Campus STaR Chart Data

Educator Preparation and Development:

1) Description:

Vision: It is essential that all professional educators be able to prepare students for their future in a manner that assures that all students will not simply survive, but truly thrive in the world that awaits them.

Education Preparation and Development consist of six components which are Professional Development Experience, Models of Professional Development, Capabilities of Education, Access to Professional Development, Levels of Understanding and Patterns of Use, and Professional Development for Online Learning. Each of the components refers to technology development that a staff member receives at their school campus. It is up to the school administration and or district personnel to ensure that educators are well prepared in meeting the needs of their students in an ever advancing technology driven society.

2) Progress:

Local Progress: Our campus is currently receiving an Advanced Technology rating in the areas of Professional Development Experiences, Capabilities of Educators, Access to Professional Development, and Levels of Understanding and Patterns of Use for the 2008-2009 school term. However our campus is receiving a rating of Developing Technology in the areas of Models of Professional Development and Professional Development for Online Learning.

State Progress: Of the campuses receiving an Advanced Technolgy Rating, 25.5% of schools received it in the area of Teaching and Learning, 19.9% in the area of Education Preperation, 45.5% in Administrative Support, and 57.2% in the area of Infrastructure.

National Progress: Requires that all states meet the needs of their students by providing them an adaquate technology curriculum. The national education system is currently in the process of revising its plan to address the technology components students must know in order to appropriately function within society.

3) Trends:

Local Progress: Advanced Technology rating remains consistent.

State Progress: More school districts are moving from the Developing Technology stage to the Advanced and Target Technology stages due to more financial support toward enhancing technology resources for all students, administration and school district support, as well as educators who are well trainned in the are of technology.

4) Recommendations:

Although our scores received an advanced and targeted rating, I do believe there is more that we could do as a campus. For starters, I believe that some of our professional development time can be delegated to expose our staff to more technology strategies to use within the classroom. I also believe that our students could be given more lesson objectives that incorporate the use of technology to explore and generate their ideas and concepts in relation to the standards they are to learn.
