Technology Assessment Review

Technology Applications Inventory Assessment 1:
Strengths- I found that I have a strong background in technology foundations and solving problems with technology tools. To me this would mean that I am able to independently navigate my way through computer applications to create documents for personal, educational, and collaborative use. As a third grade teacher in Plano ISD, I have been exposed to a wide range technological devices, programs, and applications. This has helped me to be able to use technology within the classroom so that my students are exposed to a wide range of instructional techniques.
Weaknesses- My areas of need are in technology communications and information acquisitions. I imust admit that although I have been exposed to a wide range of technology tools, I have not been exposed to communicating through various applications sources, except e-mails and curriculum documents. In fact, creating this blog has inspired me to seeking out more information to share my ideas to other colleagues and those who may be interested in my comments and ideas about education.

SETDA Assessment 2:
Strengths- As a campus, we are very embracing of using technology within the classroom. However, the use of technology varies across grade levels and individual classrooms. Our school district has embedded technology in every lesson in the form of curriculum game programs, videos, and word processing.

Weaknesses- I currently do not have any formal measure of student technology proficiency. However, I informally assess my students technology abilities through the independent activities they are completing. I have come to understand that most of my students show great technological capabilities if they are able to use a computer outside of the classroom. For those who are not as fortunate, I find that I must do all that I can to expose them to technology within the classroom environment.
